Are you ready to start making professional looking videos with a Mirrorless or DSLR camera? Professional videographer Paul David Smith will guide you through this 2 day course which is designed to give you all of the key skills you need to produce videos you will be proud of.
On this course you will learn all of the camera settings required to ensure your videos look professional, we’ll cover all of the basics such as shutter speed, aperture, ISO, white balance, focus modes and much more. Making great looking videos is far easier when you start to put these settings in yourself rather than relying on the camera to try and figure them out in an auto mode, so we’ll have you shooting in manual mode in no time which will ensure consistency across all of your videos.
We’ll add in how to capture professional audio, the best way to light certain scenes, how to stabilise your videos to avoid shaky footage and how to edit all of the footage together in Adobe Premiere Pro. All of these are the key basics required to technically put together great looking videos.
Finally you will learn a wealth of creative composition tips and tricks which is what all about what you do with the camera once the settings and technical aspects are already in the camera. Good composition and storytelling is an absolute key component to ensuring people actually watch your videos and don’t just click off them, so Paul will ensure you re armed with the knowledge and skills you need to creatively capture stunning looking footage.

FAQ’s
Where will this course take place?
This course will be ran throughout Brighton. If you live or work centrally I’m happy to run this course at your premises, otherwise we’ll run it on the streets of Brighton giving you every opportunity to get a hands on practical experience.
Do I Need Certain Skills Or Equipment To Attend?
This is a beginners course and as such, no skills are required to attend this course. The only equipment you will need to bring with you is your DSLR or Mirrorless camera and lenses.
Can You Recommend Camera Equipment For Me Prior To Me Attending?
I get a lot of requests for help with camera equipment recommendations, almost daily in fact and offer a Personalised Photography Equipment Recommendation service which you can find by clicking here.
Recommending a camera and the best lenses to buy really has lots of different factors involved in it which need to be investigated first such as what the equipment will be most used for, budgets, your expectations on image quality, your current level and aspirations, etc. Hence the above service so we can really drill down into finding you the best equipment.
Alternatively, some people attend my courses and borrow a camera from me for the day to do so, we can then incorporate this recommendation as part of the course at no extra cost. The benefit of doing it this way is that I have a lot of cameras and lenses you can try and see the difference between prior to purchasing anything. The downside is your not learning on your own equipment of course, so there are pluses and minuses to doing it both ways, it depends on what you think works best for you.
Are You DBS Checked?

Willow Robinson –
I learn’t more in 2 days with Paul than I have managed to teach myself in two years prior to this by trying to understand YouTube, videos and other learning materials. I genuinely mean it when I say I learn’t more than I ever could have hoped to from the course. Camera settings, lighting, microphones, stabilisation, composition, editing in Adobe and so much more. I almost feel silly for not doing a course like this before, but I am equally happy that I decided to book on with Paul. Would I recommend? Yes of course I would, it was excellent.

Paul ran his 2 day videography course in Brighton with my team who were all keen to learn how to make better videos for our social media channels. Video is such an important component of the marketing mix and we were lacking the ability to really create good looking videos. After just 2 days with Paul I have been blown away with the quality I’m now seeing my team create, they really have upped their game somewhat dramatically and I’m so pleased to see that moving forwards we will be able to create good quality videos with our in house resource. My team all told me they really enjoyed the course and that Paul was extremely easy to learn from.
