A professional wedding photographer since 2008, Paul David Smith specialises in capturing beautiful images which tell your story and preserve the precious memories of your special day. Based in Newquay, Cornwall, UK he offers a personal, tailored service which is bespoke to your exact requirements. He will use his own experience to capture beautiful images and ensure he knows your exact requirements prior to the day, leaving you free to enjoy your wedding safe in the knowledge the images you desire are being captured.
Paul’s style of photography would best be described as fun, relaxed and romantic. A man who likes to laugh and get involved with your day whilst remaining unobtrusive, Paul delivers a mixed style of reportage photography which ensures those natural off the cuff moments that really make a wedding aren’t missed, and fun, romantic and creative portraiture which offers the chance to capture once in a lifetime photographs as lasting memories of your wedding.
Waiting months for your wedding photographs to be sent to you after your wedding really is outdated and unnecessary in today’s digital age. For every wedding Paul photographs, he promise that the images will be sent to you within 3 days of your wedding taking place.
How does he do this? Well honestly, it’s just good planning. When you book in your wedding date, we don’t just book that date in the calendar for you, we block out the following 2 days as well to edit your photos. Rather than spread out the editing across the course of a month, Paul just jumps in and gets the job done. There is no downside, the same amount of care and attention is put into every single photograph Paul edits no matter how quick the turnaround.
No more having your guests post all of their phone taken images across social media before you have chance to put out the professional shots, no more weeks and weeks of waiting for a package to arrive in the post containing your images, just a straight forward, super quick and professional process that means you get to share and relive those precious memories much quicker.
As amazing as your photographs are going to look digitally, Paul firmly believes there is nothing like having your wedding photographs printed, they just look and feel better.
Paul has been printing his photography for over 20 years, he knows what paper type the images are going to look best with, what colour profiles to use and have a world of other technical knowledge required to ensure your photographs look their best. With every wedding Paul photographs, he’ll print your favorite 5 wedding photographs on heavy fine art paper using lab quality printers and inks and send them to you ready for you to frame as you wish.
Please don’t worry – This is all part of our wedding photography package and there is zero attempt to sell you any other photo prints or products at any point.
To keep things simple Paul only offers one wedding photography package, he’ll be at your wedding for as long as you need him and the package includes everything you’d expect from your wedding photographer and he’d like to think a whole lot more. Here is a guide as to what you can expect if you choose to work with him:
Whilst you are trying to find the best wedding photographer for you Paul would love the opportunity to say hello on a video call and learn about your wedding, tell you about how he works and answer your questions. There is no obligation after this meeting to hire him, it’s an opportunity for both parties to ensure they think they’d be able to work well together on your big day.
If after you’ve met on video chat you decide to honour Paul by choosing him to photograph your wedding then the first steps will be to arrange the deposit and get the contract signed.
A non-refundable £250 deposit is required to book your wedding date, this blocks your date out in the diary and ensures Paul will be there on the day. Your booking isn’t confirmed until this payment is cleared and the remainder of the balance is required 30 days prior to your wedding date.
Paul asks every couple to sign a wedding photography contract in order to protect both parties, this confirms exactly what he will deliver on your wedding day and what is expected from you. You can see an example of his typical wedding contract here.
About one month prior to your wedding Paul will reach out to you and book in date with you to do a pre-wedding meeting, this can either be in person at the venue if suitable for all parties or on video chat.
During this pre-wedding meeting You’ll plan the timeline for your day from a photography perspective, agree which group shots will be captured, any locations for shots you both like and a whole host of other important elements to ensure your day runs smoothly.
By this point, you’ll have met Paul twice, emailed loads and you’ll both know what to expect from each other on the day. This ensures everything will go plan and you can enjoy your day knowing your wedding photos are in good hands.
You’ll receive an email from Paul with a link to download your wedding photos. Every single image will have been hand edited by himself to a professional standard, they will be high resolution and ready for you to upload to social media, send off to have albums made or do whatever you desire with them.
At any point after this just let us know your 5 favourite images and we’ll get them printed and mailed to you in no time.
Could you imagine if your wedding photographer got to your venue, tried to switch their camera on and nothing happened…. It is every photographer’s nightmare and something they “should” be prepared for. Paul carries two professional-grade DSLR Canon cameras at all time and leaves a third in his car. He has multiple batteries, memory cards and lenses ensuring if the worse did happen and something failed, he could swiftly and easily continue to photograph your day immediately.
When it comes to delivering high-quality wedding photographs, being there on the day to photograph the wedding is only half the job, a lot of the magic happens in the post-processing stage. You get good images out of the camera, you get great images out of post-processing software and that is why each and every photograph is edited by hand individually.
Our wedding photography package delivers a minimum of 300 photographs. There is no upper limit to the photographs we will deliver, these numbers are a guide and if we take more great images than that on the day then you will definitely receive them.
We know that waiting for your images can be frustrating, so we deliver all of your wedding photographs within 72 hours.
Part of what sets Paul aside from other photographers is his creativity and passion with portraits of the bride & groom on their wedding day. Whether you book him for a half-day or to cover your entire wedding Paul will always include a portrait session with you both, making use of your wedding venue and surrounding areas. You can expect a range of shots together, and maybe a couple of individual ones too.
You certainly can, we have a gallery available which shows all stages of a wedding we have shot, from bridal prep through to first dance. You can see this album by clicking here.
We do! Should you be getting married in a stately home or such venue, they will often require your photographer to have insurance in place in-case they swing their tripod around and knock over some priceless Ming vase. Paul has full Public Liability and Professional Indemnity insurance to the value of £5million as required by most wedding venues.
If your wedding is within 50 miles of me in Newquay, Cornwall then no, this is included within the price. If it is further than 50 miles then a small fee will be charged to cover costs.
Luckily this has never happened and Paul is the type of person who will be there unless his leg is hanging off…. but should the worse happen then he knows lots of local photographers and will help you find a replacement without fuss.
Paul is DBS checked and is happy to share a copy of his DBS certificate with any client, no matter whether they are a business, charity, organisation or individual.
Hello, I’m Paul and I have worked as a professional wedding photographer in Newquay since 2008, infact, it is all I have ever done since the day I left school! During that time I have been lucky enough to be invited to photograph over 1000 weddings all across the world and I still love this job as much as the very day I started.
Being given the opportunity to photograph somebodies wedding is always such an honour and it’s never something I take for granted. I always put 100% effort into each and every wedding and favour clients who allow me to be creative, have fun and create images that they will cherish forever.
My go-to wedding photography snack is Haribo, it’s not essential that you provide them, but if you do, you’ll have one happy photographer. If I’m photographing your wedding and you’re having your wedding breakfast, I’m probably sat in my car eating Haribo!
